Since 1966, my high school’s mascot has been The Rebels. In the wake of civil unrest following the police murder of George Floyd, many mascots and symbols of the Confederacy have been put on the chopping block. The Rebel is no exception. Join me as I find out how my tiny little hometown is connected to the big, wide world, especially in this historic moment of social movement amidst a global pandemic.
